After nearly 20 years, we have been sued over a claim that a tiny portion of our 52 year old driveway and 32 year old entryway/ranch arch and irrigation system are encroaching on a neighboring property.

For a piece of dirt the size of a bathroom that they don't need, don't use or could even grow dandelions on, we were sued for tens of thousands of dollars for trespassing and emotional distress. Seems crazy, right? But after 3 1/2 years of tormenting struggle, heartache and nearly $50,000 in legal fees, through dirty legal tricks and out spending and out-lawyering us, we are now forced to pay a judgment of over $90,000, tear down our entryway, reconstruct our irrigation delivery system and hopefully rebuild a new ranch arch.

Moving the irrigation alone will cost us at about $60,000 on top of everything else. Now that they have a judgment they know we can't pay, they are moving to force us to sell the ranch to settle their claim. It's downright despicable. In order to keep them from actually forcing us to sell the ranch at auction, we need to raise about $100,000 pretty quickly.

The good news is, we are still here!

And although never super-profitable, we've built a beautiful business and always gotten by. We've hosted more than 40,000 riders over the past 2 decades!

Through thick and thin, recessions, droughts, fires, pandemic shut-downs, urban growth and regulatory changes, we've always paid our bills, plowed all of our income back into the care of our ranch, horses and riders and tried our best to create and maintain a park-like sanctuary for our horse-loving friends.

Under a new corporate structure, Rise Up Ranch, LLC (a charitable, non-profit Oregon organization) is the new parent company of FlySpur Ranch.

Reflecting our optimism, faith and resilience in the face of challenges and hardship, we will continue to provide loving stewardship of the land, our community, horses, students and riders of all ages and stripes of life.
